What SOC 2 is
SOC 2 is an audit standard from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). An independent CPA firm examines how a company protects customer data, against the AICPA's Trust Services Criteria. A Type I report covers whether the controls were suitably designed on a given date. A Type II report also tests that they operated over a period, usually 6 to 12 months.
