Parameters

string
required
The website domain, such as example.com, with no protocol or path. Add .ico after it.
The service has no other parameters.

Behavior

  • The URL always ends in .ico, but the file is the site’s own icon. It can be an ICO or a PNG.
  • You cannot choose a size. Most icons are 16 to 48 pixels, so they look blurry at large sizes.
  • If DuckDuckGo finds no favicon, it returns a 404 status with a grey placeholder image. An <img> tag still shows the placeholder.
  • The service works for public domains only, not for localhost or IP addresses.

FAQs
