Use a name lookup when you have a brand name but no domain, such as in a customer list or a spreadsheet.

How a name resolves

The CDN searches the same index as Search and returns the logo for the domain of the top result. If a name is ambiguous, call Search on your server, let the user pick the right brand, and store its domain. Then use a domain lookup.

URL-encode brand names

Encode a name that has spaces or special characters. A single word without special characters needs no encoding, but encoding it does no harm. In JavaScript, use encodeURIComponent():

Choose a match strategy

The strategy parameter controls how the CDN picks the top result:
  • match (the default) picks the brand whose name is closest to your query.
  • suggest picks the most popular brand whose name starts with your query. Use it for partial input, such as text from an autocomplete field.
An unknown strategy value returns 400. suggest uses the same prefix matching as method=typeahead in Search.
For the other parameters and the fallback behavior, see the Logo.dev CDN overview.
